La Fonda arm shell in light griege on a contract pedestal base by Ray and Charles Eames (1960s).
Inspired by a request from Alexander Girard, who needed seating for his new Manhattan restaurant, La Fonda Del Sol (1961). Girard wanted chairs with seat backs no higher than dining table tops, so Charles and Ray Eames designed this with a lower back than their original molded fiberglass chairs.
